A Trusted Name in Transplant
Division faculty provide pre- and post-transplant care for patients in the UW Health Kidney Transplant Program, one of the most active and successful in the nation.
With 70 paired kidney exchanges in 2023, our center has one of the nation’s largest living kidney donation programs. Our patient outcomes are excellent, and our wait times are shorter than regional and national averages.
A Center of Excellence for Polycystic Kidney Disease
Division faculty lead the UW Health Polycystic Kidney Disease Clinic, a Center of Excellence as designated by the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation.
Our clinic is one of just 28 in the country—and the only one in Wisconsin—to receive this honor.
State-of-the-Art Interventional Nephrology
Our multidisciplinary vascular access program brings together nephrology, radiology and surgery experts to improve care for patients with end-stage renal disease who need hemodialysis.
With approximately 1000 procedures per year, the program is a referral center for patients throughout the region.
An Outstanding Dialysis Program
Our outpatient dialysis program, a joint venture between our academic medical center and Fresenius Kidney Care, offers state-of-the-art hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis services. Division faculty also provide continuity of care for patients needing dialysis in the hospital.
U.S. News & World Report rated UW Health University Hospital as high performing in kidney failure services.
One of a Few Lupus Nephritis Clinics in the Nation
Division faculty and Rheumatology colleagues lead a dedicated lupus nephritis clinic, the only one in Wisconsin and the fifth in the nation.
