MED699: Independent Study
MED699 is a directed, independent study course for UW-Madison undergraduate students.
In this individualized learning opportunity, students work in labs under the supervision of Department of Medicine research faculty, often with the mentorship of a postdoctoral researcher or graduate student.
Students can enroll in 1-5 credits.

How to Enroll
- Review Department of Medicine research and identify your area of interest.
- Contact the principal investigator (PI) and present your proposed independent study plan. Please include the number of credits you are seeking, your goals/learning outcomes and your contact information.
- Once the PI has approved your plan, complete the 699 enrollment form.
- Student or lab submits completed enrollment form to:
- SMPH Student Services (studentservices@med.wisc.edu).
- Abigail Rudzianis (arudzianis@medicine.wisc.edu).
- Keep a copy of the form for your records.
- SMPH Student Services will send enrollment instructions to students.
