Professional Activities

Dr. Sara Westergaard is a faculty member in the Division of Hospital Medicine within the Department of Medicine. Her professional interests center around strengthening and optimizing the healthcare system to support and retain healthcare workers. She is a member of the Hospital Medicine ReEngineering Network (HOMERuN), the Society of Hospital Medicine and the Society for General Internal Medicine.

Prior to joining UW, Dr. Westergaard practiced clinically in California and Maryland. She also volunteered with the Global Health Service Partnership—a collaborative effort between the US Peace Corps and Seed Global Health—where she taught medical students in Uganda and Tanzania for two years as part of a workforce capacity building program.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Westergaard is a hospitalist who focuses on inpatient medicine. She provides clinical instruction to medical students and residents on the inpatient wards.
