Alexis is a peer reviewer for the Wisconsin Medical Journal and has been published in Conn's Current Medical Therapy textbook.
Alexis' clinical interests include management of critical and acute illness as it relates to hospitalized patients. She is a strong advocate when it comes to the care of COPD patients and medication and management optimization. She also values the role of research as it supports changes in clinical practice and the focus on non medication strategies to assist in patient care and education. She actively precepts NP/PA students to help train our future in healthcare.
Her research interests focus on readmission prevention particularly as it relates to COPD management, including the creation of a program focused on education strategies to prevent COPD readmissions and help augment patient understanding of their disease. This also includes formation of a COPD action plan, energy conservation strategies, and transitional care enrollment to help with the transition and warm handoff into the outpatient community. She also serves on the Hospital Medicine Clinical Trials team to support ongoing research efforts within the institution. This has included participation in the ACTIV-4 and ASPIKE trial as it related to management of COVID-19.
