Professional Activities

Dr. Sonetti is a faculty member is the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine within the Department of Medicine. He is the Associate Program Director for the Interventional Pulmonary Fellowship, a member of the Division’s QI subcomittee that oversees the development and implementation of ongoing QI projects. In 2018, he received the James B Skatrud Teaching Award, presented by the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellows for appreciation of outstanding teaching throughout the year. He is a member of the Interventional Pulmonary Procedure group, comprised of physicians committed to providing procedural skill support and supervision for divisional staff, fellows as well as department residents learning and performing endoscopic and pleural procedures. 

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Sonetti’s clinical interests are in interventional pulmonary medicine and lung transplantation. Dr. Sonetti sees patients in both the Pulmonary Medical Specialty Clinic and the Transplant Clinic. His clinical specialties include transplant medicine (lung), general pulmonary and critical care medicine, and procedures such as chest tube placement, endobronchial stent placement, and flexible bronchoscopy.

Research Interests

Dr. Sonetti’s research focuses on endoscopic therapy for COPD and bronchoscopy reprocessing.
