Dr. Schweizer is a faculty member in the Division of Infectious Disease within the Department of Medicine, and co-directs the KL2 Scholars program at the University of Wisconsin Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR). The program provides research funding and training to junior faculty members interested in clinical and translational research. Dr. Schweizer has also served on multiple committees for the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America.
Dr. Schweizer's research interests include infection prevention and de-implementing ineffective tests and treatments. Her research focuses on the prevention of Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections and surgical site infections, as well as stopping the use of unnecessary tests prior to surgery and excessive antibiotics among surgical patients.
