Professional Activities

Dr. Pfau is a faculty member and interim chief in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Department of Medicine. He is the director of Biliary and Pancreatic Endoscopy and the Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship, and serves as chief of Clinical Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and American College of Gastroenterology. In 2016 Dr. Pfau received a UW Health Physician Excellence Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate exceptional performance in clinical practice, education or regional services and a commitment to our mission, vision and values.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Pfau's clinical interests focus on the application of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy to gastrointestinal disease. This primarily includes the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies, disorders of the biliary system and pancreas, and screening for GI malignancies, particularly colon cancer.

Research Interests

Dr. Pfau’s research interests include therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy, gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies and colon cancer screening.
