Dr. Monica Patel is a faculty member in the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine. She is the UWCCC Faculty Director of Diversity & Inclusion in Clinical Research. Dr. Patel is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Big 10 Cancer Research Consortium. Past honors have included the University of Wisconsin Department of Medicine Advancement of Diversity Award, University of Wisconsin Star Educator Award, and the Michigan Medicine Excellence in Clinical Research Award.
Dr. Patel's clinical practice focuses on gastrointestinal malignancies, with a particular emphasis on pancreas cancer.
Dr. Patel's research focuses on improving equitable access to cancer clinical trials. She is active in the enrollment of patients with gastrointestinal malignancies to clinical trials. She is a member of the UWCCC GI Oncology Disease Oriented Team (DOT), Palliative Care and Supportive Oncology DOT, and the Phase 1 program.
