Dr. Karen Moncher is a faculty member in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine within the Department of Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the head of cardiac rehabilitation at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, Wisconsin, and the head of nuclear cardiology at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Moncher also helped launch the home-based cardiac rehabilitation program at the VA, which began as a research project.
Dr. Moncher has research interests in the use and outcomes of cardiac rehabilitation in multiple groups of patients. Her other research interests include assessing coronary flow reserve on nuclear stress tests performed with solid-state cameras, and the use of calcium scoring and its effects on preventive therapies in Veterans.
Dr. Moncher is a cardiologist with clinical interests in advanced hypertension, nuclear cardiology, peripheral arterial disease, stroke and vascular health screening.
