Professional Activities

Dr. Mohamed is a faculty member in the Division of Nephrology within the Department of Medicine. Dr. Mohamed cares for people living with a wide range of renal diseases and disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings. During fellowship training, Dr. Mohamed was appointed as the Chief Nephrology fellow at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and was responsible for the quality of training received by the fellows. 

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Mohamed’s clinical interests include interventional and diagnostic nephrology, adeptly managing acute kidney injury cases, chronic kidney disease and patients with End Stage Renal Disease.

Research Interests

Dr. Mohamed’s research interests include identifying modifiable risk factors to reduce the incidence of arteriovenous fistula/graft dysfunction; exploring the utility of point care ultrasound (POCUS) in assessing the fluid volume status in patients with end stage kidney disease; and investigating and implementing new quality improvement projects for patients with impaired kidney function to reduce both mortality and morbidity.
