Dr. Sameer Mathur is a faculty member in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine within the Department of Medicine. He currently serves as the program director of the Allergy and Immunology fellowship program. Dr. Mathur is a Fellow in the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and has received numerous awards for his contributions to research and education, including the Department of Medicine Puestow Research Award for Junior Faculty and the NIH Loan Repayment Program Award.
Dr. Mathur's clinical interests include Asthma, Hypereosinophilic Syndromes (including Eosinophilic Esophagitis), and Chronic Urticaria. He sees patients in the Allergy and Immunology Clinic at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics West Clinic location and at the William S. Middleton Veterans Hospital.

Dr. Mathur is studying how eosinophils contribute to disease activity in the context of asthma and eosinophilic esophagitis. Dr. Mathur is the principal investigator for the laboratory core studying the role of eosinophils on airway inflammation and projects examining inflammatory mechanisms and biomarkers in eosinophilic esophagitis. Dr. Mathur is also involved in clinic-based projects to better manage patients with mast cell disorders, including urticarial, angioedema, and mast cell activation syndrome.
