Professional Activities

Dr. Claudia Korcarz is a senior research scientist and manager for the Atherosclerosis Imaging Research Program within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. She is a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE), an invited Instructor in the UW Hospital and Clinics School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and an invited lecturer to the ASE Scientific Sessions and other ASE-sponsored educational courses. Dr. Korcarz has received various grants throughout her career from the ASE and National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Korcarz is a member of many professional organizations including the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and fellow of the ASE. She was an elected member of the ASE board of directors, and a member of its research, training and educational, and sonography committees. She was member of the task forces and writing groups for the ASE CIMT guideline (co-chair), the point-of care ultrasound recommendations, and the ASE Advanced Practice Cardiac Sonographer recommendations.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Korcarz is a registered cardiac sonographer in the Adult Echocardiography Laboratory at UW Hospital and Clinics.

Dr. Korcarz's research interests include ultrasound assessment of atherosclerosis, vascular function, and cardiovascular physiology. She has a special interest in cardiovascular risk prevention, cardiovascular coupling and in the effects of sleep apnea and its treatment on cardiovascular disease risk.
