Dr. Ian Grimes is a faculty member in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology within the Department of Medicine. He is involved in medical education, and is Director of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship Program. Dr. Grimes is also highly involved with medical student education, helping with curriculum design and lecturing on topics including Guiding Principles in Gastroenterology, Colorectal Cancer Screening and Surveillance; and Food, fasting and fitness. Dr. Grimes is the Co-Founder of the Pediatric to Adult Inflammatory Bowel Disease Transition Clinic, and a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterological Association and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America.
Dr. Grimes' medical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, transition of care from pediatric to adult care for patients with inflammatory bowel disease, pre- and post-operative care of patients with inflammatory bowel disease, and colon cancer screening.
Dr. Grimes' research focuses on inflammatory bowel disease. He has received the American Gastrointestinal Association’s Certificate of Recognition for Scientific Accomplishment as Early Stage Investigator and a T32 Institutional National Research Service Award, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
