Professional Activities

Dr. Ellie Golestanian is a faculty member in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine within the Department of Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Golestanian has been actively involved in medical education, mentoring trainees, and contributing to the development of quality improvement initiatives in critical care and teaching the principles of evidence-based practice through careful appraisal of current medical literature.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Golestanian’s clinical interests encompass advanced modes of mechanical ventilation, the pathophysiology of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and the critical care management of pregnant patients. Her primary focus is now on tele-ICU services, where she leads efforts to extend expert critical care to smaller, resource-limited ICUs across Wisconsin and Illinois. Through real-time remote consultations, advanced monitoring, and evidence-based guidance, Dr. Golestanian works to bridge the gap in critical care expertise for hospitals without on-site intensivists. Her work aims to ensure that patients in these units receive state-of-the-art care, resulting in substantial improvements in clinical outcomes, including reduced ICU mortality and length of stay. By fostering collaboration with local teams, she strives to enhance the quality of care, optimize resource utilization, and provide equitable access to critical care services.

Research Interests

Dr. Golestanian’s work has included outcomes research in the intensive care unit.
