Professional Activities

James D. Alstott, MD, is a faculty member in the Division of Nephrology in the Department of Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Society of Nephrology and the National Kidney Foundation. Dr. Alstott is currently a member of the UW Health Ethics Committee, serves as the Associate Program Director for the Nephrology Fellowship Program, and was selected to serve a 2 year term on the ABIM Nephrology Item-Writing Taskforce. Outside of work, he is a loving husband and father to his young family.

Research Interests

Dr. Alstott's interests include medical education, the progression of chronic kidney disease, care transitions of acute kidney injury, and urine microscopy.
