Dr. Parul Agarwal is a faculty member in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology within the Department of Medicine. As a transplant hepatologist, Dr. Agarwal provides care to patients with a variety of diseases and disorders of the liver. Dr. Agarwal instructs medical students on fundamentals of liver disease, provides clinical instruction to residents and fellows on hepatology rotations, and delivers continuing medical education presentations on topics including clinical management of hepatocellular carcinoma, fatty liver disease, and end-stage liver disease. She is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease. Dr. Agarwal serves as Director of the VISN 12 Multi-disciplinary Liver Cancer Tumor Conference at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital.
Dr. Agarwal’s clinical interests includes care of patients with cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and end-stage liver disease (ESLD) as well providing care for patients after liver transplantation.
Dr. Agarwal performs clinical research on topics such as clinical outcomes of patients with liver cancer who are managed through a multidisciplinary tumor board, palliative care in ESLD, and forms of ablation therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma.
