Meet an Alum: Dr. Umama Gorsi
Class of 2021
Post-graduate employment: Advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist and assistant professor of medicine, University of Cincinnati
Dr. Gorsi directs the University of Cincinnati Hypertrophy Obstructive Cardiomyopathy Clinic and is a mentor in the American College of Cardiology young scholar mentorship program.
How our program prepared her: "I remember my great mentors from UW. Dr. Maryl Johnson is a great teacher, role model and the best clinician I have seen in my career."
Meet an Alum: Dr. Michael Zacharias
Class of 2015
Post-graduate employment: Associate clinical chief of cardiovascular medicine and medical director of mechanical circulatory support, University Hospitals (UH) Cleveland Medical Center
Dr. Zacharias was named a UH Distinguished Physician in 2022. He was also simultaneously named Teacher of the Year for the UH internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship.
How our program prepared him: "[I received] broad exposure to the entire field of advanced heart failure/transplant cardiology, with hands-on exposure both in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The attendings/mentors I worked with all cared about my well-being and education towards becoming a well-rounded physician."
