New faculty Q&A with Sriram Gonakoti, MD
Sriram Gonakoti, MD
Assistant Professor
Hospital Medicine
What is your primary professional focus as it relates to our mission areas (clinical, research and/or medical education)?
My primary focus is clinical work, with interests in medical bedside procedures and point-of-care ultrasound. I am open to exploring areas within hospital medicine. Being part of a large division at UW allows me to do so. I hope to get involved in medical education as I get more comfortable at UW.
What drew you to UW–Madison and the Department of Medicine?
I was drawn to UW as it is a large academic center in the Midwest which would expose me to a relatively more complex patient population.
What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
I hope to continue to grow professionally and from my amazing colleagues in the division.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I enjoy playing ping pong whenever I have a chance. I am looking forward to exploring all the trails around Madison.
Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
Quiet people have the loudest minds.
