My primary professional areas of focus is providing high quality care to our patients with rheumatic diseases, both in clinical practice as well as with quality improvement work.
What drew you to UW-Madison and the Department of Medicine?
Madison is my hometown, and UW-Madison my alma mater. Joining the Department of Medicine is an exciting personal and professional opportunity. It’s a privilege to join the DOM and Rheumatology Division, each with a high commitment to excellence in clinical, research, and educational domains. Madison is home, and it is wonderful to be back.
What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
I’m most excited about meeting colleagues (hopefully in person one day) and partnering in some of the wonderful work that is happening within the department. I’m excited about the planned continuous improvement work we have started working on within the rheumatology division.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
In my free time I enjoy reading and outdoor activities with my family including hiking, cycling, running, and once again snow shoeing.
Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
In residency Dr. Jeff Wiese gave us 3 books, my favorite is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey. One of my favorite quotes is “Proactive people focus their efforts in the Circle of Influence. They work on the things they can do something about. The nature of their energy is positive, enlarging and magnifying, causing their Circle of Influence to increase.”
