What is your primary professional focus in any or all of our mission areas (clinical, research, and/or medical education)?
My primary area of focus is in medical education for medical students and residents, and quality research involving multidisciplinary teams in the inpatient setting.

What drew you to UW-Madison and the Department of Medicine?
Having done residency here, I was able to meet and work with many members of the Department of Medicine, and got to witness firsthand how helpful and congenial everyone is when working together. I am very thankful that I continue to be a part of the department.

What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
I am most excited to develop my clinical and leadership skills as an attending, and begin to explore some of my own community health and clinical research interests in the near future.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
When I am not working, I enjoy being outdoors hiking, biking or skiing, spending time with my husband and working on home improvement projects, and reading fiction and nonfiction (primarily anthropology related).

Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
An attending during residency had us establish learning and wellness goals when we were on a busy inpatient rotation. I appreciated it because it showed that he cared about us as learners and as people, and I have been trying to emulate that during my experiences with learners. Setting wellness goals helps remind us that it is very important to maintain our work-life balance.
