In memoriam: Julie Mosher, philanthropist
With sadness, the Department of Medicine notes the passing of Julie Mosher, wife of George Mosher. Mrs. and Mr. Mosher have been instrumental in supporting research on interstitial lung disease conducted by Keith Meyer, MD, professor, Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
Mrs. Mosher taught in the Milwaukee Public and Whitefish Bay school districts for several years before becoming Vice President of the family business, National Business Furniture. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Wisconsin, American Heritage Society, and the Whitefish Bay Garden Club. Throughout her life, her family was her true love and passion.
According to her obituary, Mrs. Mosher was diagnosed with lung disease in 2002 and received a lung transplant in 2008. Dedicated to supporting medical research to improve the lives of others with lung disease, the Moshers made annual contributions to the George and Julie Mosher Research Fund, which supports research being done in the field of interstitial lung disease by Dr. Keith Meyer.
“I am so grateful to George and Julie Mosher for all of the generous support over the years. Julie’s passing is very sad for the Mosher family and for me personally,” said Dr. Meyer.
