Funding awarded for anti-bias professional development tool for educators
Molly Carnes, MD, MS (pictured at right), professor, Geriatrics and Gerontology and Christine Pribbenow, PhD (pictured at far right), associate scientist and director of The LEAD Center at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research, were awarded a two-year grant from the Ira and Ineva Reilly Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment.
Their project is entitled, "Do You Play Fair? Addressing Bias in K-12 Educational Settings."
Building on a previous anti-bias video game called Fair Play, which allows players to take the perspective of a Black college student encountering structural and implicit bias in a university setting, the current project will create a similar professional development tool for use by educators in the kindergarten through high school level.
