Endocrinology researchers present at Regional American Federation for Medical Research meeting
Deyang Yu, graduate student, presented his research entitled "Short-term methionine deprivation improves metabolic biomarkers of obesity" at the 2017 Combined Annual Meeting of the Central Society for Clinical and Translational Research (CSCTR) and the Midwestern Section of the American Federation for Medical Research (AFMR) in Chicago, Illinois on April 20-21, 2017. Mr. Yu received a competitive travel award from CSCTR.
Also presenting at the meeting were Sebastian Arriola Apelo, PhD, former research associate and current faculty member in the UW-Madison Department of Dairy Science, whose abstract was selected for oral presentation and was awarded a $500 honorarium, and Nicole Cummings, graduate student, who was selected for a travel award based on the strength of her abstract.
Mr. Yu, Dr. Arriola Apelo, and Ms. Cummings study in the laboratory of Dudley Lamming, PhD, assistant professor, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
AFMR is dedicated to developing and mentoring tomorrow's leaders in medical research. The organization offers four regional meetings each year. CSCTR is one of the oldest and largest academic medical societies in the Midwest.
