Dr. Nasia Safdar: Wisconsin may experience a bad flu season
Nasia Safdar, MD, PhD, associate professor, Infectious Disease and medical director of infection control at UW Health was interviewed by WISC-TV about a potentially severe flu season this year.
In the southern hemisphere, influenza has hit Australia hard during its winter season of June-August, 2017, causing the worst flu season in 50 years.
"What's happening in Australia is generally a good predictor of what might happen here," said Dr. Safdar. And in Wisconsin, eight people were hospitalized for influenza in the month of September, 2017, which is considerably higher than usual.
