Journalists reporting on breaking news about scientific and technical topics seek insight from outside experts to help them make sense of new publications and press releases. 

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) launched a new science experts platform for reporters called SciLine. 

An article about the effort quoted Caitlin Pepperell, MD, assistant professor, Infectious Disease. 

"We need the support and engagement of the general public and of course government and private funding agencies, and it's always useful to practice articulating what is interesting and important in our research," said Dr. Pepperell.
