Dr. Hasmeena Kathuria begins as UW–CTRI Director

Hasmeena Kathuria, MD, officially began her work as the director of the University of Wisconsin Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention (UW-CTRI) in person on July 1.

She succeeds founding director Michael Fiore, MD, MBA, MPH, professor emeritus, General Internal Medicine, and joins the Department of Medicine’s Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine faculty.

On July 1, Dr. Kathuria met with UW-CTRI colleagues in Madison, as well as Anjon Audhya, PhD, senior associate dean for basic research, biotechnology, and graduate studies, UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH). She also met virtually with UW-CTRI staff across the state. 

"I'm delighted to be here, and to work with you," said Dr. Kathuria.

She has been meeting virtually with UW-CTRI staff since accepting the job last year. She has served in key center roles, including on various grant applications.
