What does being a chief resident mean to you?
It is such an honor to have been selected to serve as a chief resident this academic year. The opportunity will allow me to give back to the residency program that shaped me into the clinician that I am today. I look forward to helping both coordinate and provide clinical and didactic education for our residents as they continue to develop into excellent clinical practitioners. Additionally, I see a large part of the chief role as understanding resident’s wishes and goals in order to best advocate on their behalf as changes continue to come to our program.

What are you most looking forward to as chief?
As the general internal medicine chief, I will be primarily working with our primary care track residents. I am eager to get to know these residents better as I continue to hone my skills as a clinician and educator. There is so much that we can learn from each other this year. I am equally excited to have the opportunity to work closely with my co-chiefs, Geralyn, Lucas and Mazen, as we navigate any challenges our new roles bring.

What’s your favorite part of the UW internal medicine residency?
My favorite part of the UW internal medicine residency truly is the people I have had the chance to work with including my co-residents, attendings and administrative staff. It is difficult to communicate just how supportive this community is! Whether it be in clinical rotations, educational aspirations, research endeavors or milestones in our personal lives, we always step up to support one another and ensure they can pursue what is important to them. Though I am so excited to see what the members of my resident class go off to do in their future careers, I will miss the camaraderie built during our years training together.
