Professional Activities

Dr. Poehls is a faculty member of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism within the Department of Medicine. She is a longitudinal teacher-coach in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health’s ForWard curriculum for medical students, a lecturer in the Department of Medicine’s internal medicine residency program, and the endocrinology fellowship program director. Dr. Poehls is a 2015 recipient of the Excellence in Endocrine Teaching Award, co-awarded by endocrine fellows.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Poehls is an endocrinologist with special interests in thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, thyroid disease, diabetes and hormone replacement therapy.

Research Interests

Dr. Poehls has research interests in chronic hypoparathyroidism and prophylactic central neck dissection in patients with clinical-node–negative thyroid cancer.
