What is your primary professional focus in any or all of our mission areas (clinical, research, and/or medical education)?
My primary professional passion is helping individuals with cystic fibrosis thrive in the life that they want to live. I am the director of the adult cystic fibrosis (CF) clinic, and site director for the CF clinical trial network. I have inpatient clinical roles on the pulmonary consult and advanced pulmonary services. We are currently participating in four clinical trials of new therapeutics in CF.

What drew you to UW-Madison and the Department of Medicine?
I am a proud alumni of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health (2005), and a native of the Milwaukee area. It has been humbling and invigorating to return to my academic roots.

What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
Over this past year, I have enjoyed building and supporting a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to optimize the inpatient and outpatient care of CF. I have been able to re-establish relationships with previous colleagues from medical school, and create new relations with pulmonary and other DOM colleagues.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Spending time with family and friends, travel.

Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
Surround yourself with excellence, never strive to be the smartest person in the room.
