Our department is ranked 12th in the nation for NIH funding awards to departments of internal medicine, according to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (2023 data).

In FY23, our department had $98.1 million in extramural grant awards. This represents 25 percent of extramural awards to the UW School of Medicine and Public Health.
